ABOUT ME
I like to make dumb things smart, and smart things smarter.
I grew up near Cedar Falls, IA, where I gained valuable experience working for my parents’ small business during weekends, [school] in-service days, and early outs. At the University of Northern Iowa, I initially pursued Marketing & Communications before transitioning to Criminology with a minor in Political Science. During this time, I was an active member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and had the privilege of serving as the university’s mascot, TC. Seeking new experiences, I participated in the National Student Exchange program, spending a semester at Missouri State University. Additionally, I completed an internship at the United States Marshal Service headquarters in Alexandria, VA.
Following graduation, I relocated to Des Moines, IA, and began my career at John Deere Financial as a Litigation Specialist, where I discovered my passion for leveraging technology to simplify processes and streamline work. Through self-teaching various programs and coding languages, I made the decision to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Information Systems. I advanced myself within John Deere Financial, and held the role of Senior Web Content Analyst, overseeing the management of John Deere Financial’s online presence. After 12 years at John Deere I separated with the company and stared my new journey with Farm Bureau. This change has allowed me to get more exposure/experience with the back-end web development, where as my previous role was primarily focused on front-end web development.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my dog and fiancé, participating in CrossFit classes, and engaging with comedy and true crime podcasts. I am also deeply passionate about history and continuously seek opportunities to simplify and innovate. At home, I have integrated smart technology using HomeKit, Home Assistant, Docker, Raspberry Pi, and DAKboard to personalize and automate our living space, providing a user-friendly interface for guests. This passion drives my enthusiasm for making complex systems more intuitive and efficient. I also enjoy tinkering with my 3D printer, creating items for friends, family, and for improvements around the home.
